The 5 “Be”s

The Felsenfeld 5-“Be”s To Better Employee Relations ©:

  • Be Humane.  Never forget that employees are people, and like you and me, seeking approval and feelings of self worth – and equally capable of anger and retaliation.
  • Be Consistent.  Terms and conditions promised at the time of employment do count.
  • Be Fair.  Fairly treated employees work harder, work better, and make more money for you, their employer.
  • Be Courageous. Don’t be afraid to ask the tough question, the answer may save you anxiety medication in the long run.
  • Be Discreet.  When considering terminating an employee, never act in the heat of the moment; or, speak ill of a departed employee:  They may return with their lawyer.
